Obituary of Sheila Mitchell

Sheila Alzadia Mitchell nee Thorne affectionately known as Granny Sheila was born on the 3rd June, 1927 and went home to be with the Lord on 19th April, 2020. She was pre-deceased by her husband James Euclin Mitchell (from Litchfield) and daughter Desiree Arlene. Sheila Mitchell was an outstanding parent who worked along side of her husband to take care of eight children. She lived an exemplary life. Her love for poetry made her one of the most sought out person in her community to recite poems at concerts and church gatherings. Mom was rich in love, generosity, grace, humility, good morals and sound values. Mom always wore a ready smile, gentle speech and a keen sense of wit and humor. Mom knew how to mix the bitter and the sweet circumstances of life which resulted in contentment. Mom was an excellent Chef and an entrepreneur. She was also known as the Lunch Lady who sold food, goodies and treats in village and various events etc. Mom knew and loved the Lord. Sheila attended St. Mary’s Ye Virgin Anglican Church in Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara Guyana, South America. Her late husband and a few grandchildren can attest to her late arrival to church was marked by her “distinctive cough” that echoed during Sunday Mass. Mom was active in Dorcus Society and she chaired the Mother's Union Organization for a number of years. Sheila was a loving grandmother. She imparted her culinary skills to her grand children and was always proud of their achievements. Her great and great, great grand children brought delight to her life. SHEILA MITCHELL was a TRUE EXAMPLE of the Proverbs 31 WOMAN. Mom has fought the good fight!
