On behalf of the Jason and Reuben families, we offer our deepest condolences to the Mitchell and their extended families. We share in your pain of Granny Sheila's passing.
Mrs. Mitchell was the embodiment of the African proverb "it takes a village to raise a child" in that she was the person many of us in the village turned to for a kind smile and conversation, good food and a refugee for when you made mischief and ran from an elderly person. She had the biggest heart.
She's gone but will never be forgotten as she's imbued in her children the values of communith and friendship. May her family know that her life had meaning and impact on many of us who called Beterverwagting home. RIP.

Granny Sheila sincerely loved and cared about people. It was always a pleasure to visit her. She was always smiling and genuinely concerned about one's well-being.
I was privileged to spend some time with her a few years ago. Her memory was incredible. We had so much fun as we watched her favorite game shows. She answered so many of those questions and commented that she didn't believe they didn't know the answer... laughing. Undoubtedly, I will miss her poems and storytelling.
Her personality was unique.
Sincere condolences to my dear friend Grace and her entire family.
May her soul rest in peace.

My Condolences to my dear friend Grace and the entire family. Granny Sheila as she was called by most people was a loving and caring woman with an impeccable memory. She would always asked about my mom and my one boy (son) Grace and I went to visit her in the hospital after my son went to be with the lord. Even though she was hospitalized she asked about my mom. This shows she cares for others and it meant alot to me. She was a Gem. Grace and family Cherish all the wonderful memories. Her work on earth is finish. She is resting in God's hands. May her soul RIP and rise in Glory.

I remember when, on one of her visits to my home in Guyana, she recited a poem which was dedicated to Mothers everywhere, on the occasion of Mother's Day, and she did not miss a beat. She was always quite eloquent with a sharp memory. I had not seen her in many years and when I visited her last year August, My dear friend , Joy and I had just entered the house and were talking while waiting for Mom to come out. The moment she came out and heard my voice, it was like no time had passed. She immediately called out, " Eh eh, Desiree, is that you? " This brought tears to my eyes....she still remembered me. That was so refreshing. I will always remember our times together. She took the place of my mother when mine passed. Love you always. REST IN PEACE, MOM.
CONDOLENCES TO THE MEMBERS OF HER FAMILY, ESPECIALLY HER CHILDREN.
