We thank God that our father lived a full life. At 93 his mind was still sharp and his heart remained big. His humor was quick and his smile was warm and infectious. My father loved his family and loved his community. He proudly made sacrifices for both. Rest well Daddy, your efforts went above and beyond. We love you and will miss you. God bless you, mommy, and Camille. ❤❤❤

THANKS BE TO GOD FOR HIS UNSPEAKABLE GIFT. 2 Corinthians 9:15
Our Lady of the Valley Health & Wellness Ministry has been blessed to journey in faith with an amazing man, James S. Henderson Jr. We fondly called him 'Jim" or "St. James of the Valley". This ordinary man did extraordinary things. As we reflect on the experiences and blessings, we thank God for His gift to us and Our Lady of the Valley parish. Jim touched many lives in our parish and the community- at -large in a profound way. We witnessed his compassionate and generous spirit; many corporal works of mercy to help others. The shared experiences of members were empowering over the years. He made friends and brought them closer to Christ. He lived his Catholic faith in word and deeds.
Jim's growing old gracefully kept hope alive in our hearts. We would often see him on his daily three-mile walk or the annual 5K Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, (MSABC). He was known for his famous banana nut bread which he prepared for many of the parish events, bake sales of the Rosary Society, and Health & Wellness celebrations. At Christmas, he would bake individual loaves for the Pastor and each of the Health & Wellness members, in addition to a platter for the table. Everyone would look forward to receiving their banana nut bread on their birthdays also. Prepared with TLC, Jim would wrap and personalize each loaf. Not only was Jim very active in OLV's Health & Wellness Ministry, he also found time to serve on OLV's Finance Committee, the Archdiocese of Newark's Nourishing Your Committee, and the African-American, African & Caribbean Apostolate. He was so supportive of the Rosary Society that he was made an honorable member, (the only male in an all-female organization). He used his gifts and talents to serve others. Everyone who knew Jim knew that he humbly did things for the glory of God.
There is much to be said about our beloved friend, Jim, a righteous man. His life was a living testimony to God's love. He shared the good news of Jesus Christ. by the way he lived; the good he did by being a loving friend to all. His legacy of faith, hope, and love will be with us always.
"We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you." Colossians 1:3
We offer a Spiritual Bouquet of Masses, Divine Mercies, Holy Hours, and Rosaries. We pray for the repose of Jim's soul and consolation of the family.. May you find comfort in God's love and know that our love and prayers are with you always.
May God continue to bless you and keep you in His care.

JIM HENDERSON, AN HONORABLE MAN
When I think of Jim Henderson, I thank of all the people who needed help, and he came to the rescue. Great man, caring and generous. I was honored to call him my friend and brother in Christ. I thank him for all of the things he did for Our Lady of the Valley Parish. As we celebrate his life, I have no doubt that God has received Jim in heaven with open arms. He continues to bless us for he is in heaven praying for us.
My condolences to the family. Know that God loves you, and so do we. Our prayers are with you during this time of bereavement.
"Eternal rest grant unto him O'Lord and let perpetual light shine upon Jim. May he rest in peace."

HEARTFELT SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY OF JAMES S. HENDERSON JR.
We remember James Henderson. Our beloved Jim, friend, and brother. A loving and dutiful husband, father, brother, and friend. He selflessly lived a life of service to God, reaching out to help others. He saw God in the face of each individual.
Dear Lord, we thank you for the faith that frees, the love that knows it cannot lose its own. The love that looks through the shadows and sees that You and Jim are forever one. "And now abideth FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE these three, but the greatest of these is LOVE." 1 Corinthians 13:13
To the family, we extend our deepest sympathy. May your sorrow be lightened by the love of God, the comfort of family and friends, and the knowledge that Jim's legacy of love will live forever in our hearts. Our love and prayers are with you. May God bless you and keep you in His care.
Yours in Christ,
Roger & Carolyn Monel
