Obituary of Kay Anita Brathwaite

Please share a memory of Kay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kay Anita Brathwaite-Lloyd departed this earth on Saturday, January 16th, 2021. Kay was born on August 17th, 1958 in Christ Church, Barbados to the late Eileen and Sidney Jones. She was a resident of East Orange, NJ for over twenty years. She was a graduate of Cooperative High School in Bridgetown, Barbados. After graduating high school, Kay worked at the Royal Bank of Canada in Barbados. She migrated to the U.S. in 1977 and began her career with JPMorgan Chase (formerly known as Chemical Bank). While Kay has worked with Chase for 40-plus years, she attained the position of Vice President/Assist Branch Manager of Operations until her passing. During this time, she continued to grow and earned her degree at Brooklyn College. On July 17th, 2004 after a long courtship, Kay married the love of her life – Ronald Lloyd. Kay & Ronald traveled the world while living their best lives together. She was an outgoing, friendly, bubbly, joyous person and she loved the beaches. She always had a bright smile on her face; Kay cooked amazing and loved to laugh and dress well, on occasion, sip on a Malibu with pineapple. These were some of the facets of her personality. Kay leaves many loved ones behind to cherish her memories - her devoted husband Ronald and her son Randy Brathwaite, her sisters Marcia Ashby, Cheryl Ofoha (both of NJ) and Joy Garrett of NC, her bothers Mark Jones of Barbados, Steve Jones and Joel Jones of NJ, step-daughter Raven Saunders, step-son Shastri Lloyd, grandson Shamir Saunders, her bother-in-laws Phil Garrett and Joe Ofoha and sister-in-law Marie Jones, her aunts Gloria Lashley and many others, including: ten nieces and nephews, eleven great-nieces and great-nephews. Kay had a host of family, friends, co-workers whom she cherished very dearly…too many to mention by name but her two closest friends (whom she called sisters) were Cassandra Persue and Merlina Mungal and dearest friends Elder Ekeoma Ekeoma and others from Nigeria.
