Obituary of Dale Elizabeth Foy
Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The vibrant presence of Dale Elizabeth Foy still resonates as we mourn her passing, humming among us energizing our most personal memories together. Nothing short of celebration is expected for having experienced her love and friendship.
Quietly cool pursuing a career of arts and service, her presence warmed the room with her gentle humor; being a devoted daughter she revered her parents, the late Harry Foy and the late Gloria Wilson Foy, and cherished her siblings, LaVonia and Harry.
She was born on June 10, 1958, raised in Hempstead, Long Island and lived with her family in Jackson Heights, Queens until their passing. She graduated from Saint Mary’s High School, Garden City, where her lifelong interests in the arts and theater were nurtured.
She is a graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing/Public Relations and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Advertising Communications.
Dale worked as a graphic artist and public relations specialist creating outstanding marketing packages, greeting cards, interior design and political materials. She flew around the world as a Passenger Service Representative for Piedmont/US Air enabling her to indulge her love of traveling for many years.
Dale honored the legacies of both sides of her family, the Wilsons who were among the founders of Convent Avenue Baptist Church, a pillar of Harlem religious and social leadership; and the Foys of Wilmington, North Carolina whose trips “down South” were the joy of her childhood. As an adult, she was a fashion original, basking in a permanent season of elegance, with a mane of lovely black hair framing her.
Dale lived and celebrated life among the most creative performers on Broadway, and enjoyed her friendships (and backstage passes!) with our era’s most popular recording artists. She was a supporter of her friends on Broadway and even attended a performance in Cuba hosted by her dear friend Broadway legend Chapman Roberts “Black Stars of the Great White Way”.
Since 2003, she has been serving the public as a Caseworker at NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in the Mental Health division.
Dale is survived by her loving sister LaVonia Wilson, Aunties Viola Wilson, Maxine Foy, Gloria Grace Foy, Mary Louise Boyd Foy, and a host of cousins and friends. Her younger brother Harry Mark Louis predeceased her.
Special thanks to Dale’s co-workers at HMH for their friendship and assistance to the family.
