Obituary of Hector Mieles

Hector J. Mieles 88 of Woodside, passed away on April 15, 2020. Born in Mompos, Colombia, he was the son of the late Juan and Hipolita (Mejia) Mieles. Hector always lived life to the fullest and traveled as much as he could. He and some associates formed Colombian Pro-Infant Association Inc., ACOPIN, a non-profit organization for Colombia children. He also helped organize for several decades the famous Barranquilla Carnival festivities in Queens, NY. He is survived by his beloved wife Tulia. He leaves behind his sons: Jairo and Orlando and daughter Mariann, fourteen grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a brother, and several sisters and at least 90 nieces and nephews who all held him dear to their hearts because Hector gave so much to so many.
