Obituary of Lewvenia Harrell Porter

At 106 years of age, Mrs. Lewvenia Harrell Porter departed this life and received her heavenly reward Thursday, August 15, 2019. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Judge Porter; her first-born son, John Porter, and her daughter-in-law Ethel Porter (wife of son Kenneth Porter, Sr.). She is survived by her daughter-in-law Patricia Porter (widow of John Porter); her sons Kenneth Porter, Sr. and Joseph Porter (Sherril); daughter Kay Frances Porter, her loving and committed caregiver; her grandsons Kenneth Porter, Jr. (Tamara) and Tariq Abdur Rahman (Naimah); granddaughters Stacy Porter and Nia Porter; eight great-grandchildren; her niece Marjorie Silvera and a host of other family and friends.

Her faith in her Lord was steadfast. She loved to recite the Lord’s Prayer and Psalm 23. Her regular routine included having the Upper Room devotional and Bible read to her daily. Her favorite songs included Blessed Assurance, If I Can Help Somebody, and Total Praise.

We rejoice that she now dwells in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
