Obituary of Mary E Moore
Mary Elizabeth Moore affectionately known as Brownlee was born on November 27, 1937 to the late Augusta Moore and Odell Moore in Chester, SC. Mary moved to Charlotte, NC, where she attended 2nd Ward Senior high school. She moved to the (Big Apple) New York City for over 50 years. She was a faithful member of Brooklyn Tabernacle in Brooklyn NY.
Mary worked as Nurse Aide until her sickness. She also was a cook for many years in New York. Mary spent a lot of her holidays with her Sister Vivian and her 3 children Michael, Sheila and Judy. On those holidays, she would always bring with her Junior Cheesecake & Pecan Pie (she couldn’t bring just one pie because everyone would argue over whose pie it was!) She enjoyed traveling to New Jersey & love listening to Sam Cooke. Her favorite foods were a long foot hot dog and a hot pastrami sandwich from Torpedo Base in Paterson, NJ.
Mary returned home to the Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2018. Mary was predeceased by mother, Augusta Moore; father, Odell Moore; daughter, Barbara Ann Moore; sister, Freed Coleman; brother, Odell Moore Jr and brother-in-law, Moses Agurs.
Mary leaves to carry on her memories, her granddaughter, Marleena LeShantee Moore-Gilliam (Tracy) of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Damyon Lamont Moore of Charlotte, NC; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Vivian Tate of Hawthorne, NJ and Eva Mary Agurs of Charlotte; special cousins, Alfred (NorFaye), Brenda, Maxine, Vonne Pop and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lovingly submitted,
