Obituary of Jerome Moore
Jerome Scott Moore was born in Burlington, North Carolina on November 24, 1957. He was the fourth of nine children born to Elder Bennie and Adele Moore. He departed this life on September 13, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.
In his early years he attended public elementary School #13, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Junior High School and Eastside High School all of Paterson, NJ.
Jerome was a veteran who served his country receiving an Honorable discharge for his service. He and Kathleen Nelson married November 25, 1994. From this union one son was born.
He worked for Mullen’s Roofing Co., Fairfield, NJ for a number of years and then relocated to Charlotte, N.C. Upon returning to Paterson, he worked for the City of Paterson, Board of Health Dept. as a Maintenance Engineer for several years.
Jerome was self-employed as a Roofing Mechanic and Contractor until his passing.
He was affectionately known to his family and friends as “Byrd or Byrd Man." He was a pillar in his community. Jerome was as cool as they come. His style of clothing was tastefully exquisite. He dressed and drove in style. Jerome was known for his cars. He drove all high quality makes and models as he also sold them. He rode around in his Mercedes and Cadillac’s of various styles, as he was leaning to the side chilling.
He was always willing to help anyone he could. He was truly a spreader of the Gospel. Jerome often witnessed to people of all walks of life about Jesus. He was a good man with a heart of gold. He truly loved and protected his family. It is with heavy hearts that we say so long to our dear loved one. Jerome, you will truly be missed by all who love and knew you. May you forever rest in God’s loving arms.
He was predeceased by his Father, the late Bennie B. Moore, 1992, his Father in-law, Raymond P. Nelson Sr., 2004 and his Mother in-law, Erma L. Nelson, 1993.
He leaves his loving and devoted wife Kathleen Nelson-Moore; one son, Jamar Scott Moore and his loving mother, Mother Adele Moore all of Paterson, NJ. Six brothers: Robert (Cristina) Moore of Gaithersburg, MD, Bernard (Denise) Moore of Hackensack, NJ, Brian (Beverly) Moore of Teaneck, NJ, Jonathan Moore of Carlsbad, CA, Benjamin (Yvonne) Moore of Charlotte, NC, Joseph (Regina) Moore of West Orange, NJ. Two sisters: Arlethia (Keith) Kelley and Carolyn (Andrew) Perry both of Paterson, NJ. Two in-law brothers, Raymond P. Nelson of FL, Donna Nelson Ivy of Paterson, NJ, Carol Nelson of Woodland Park, NJ, and Arlene (Tom) Nolan of Wykcoff, NJ. He also is leaving a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, God-children and friends. Rest in Peace Jerome, you have transcended.
