Obituary of Helen L Glover
Helen was born in Newark, NJ to the late Carrie and Holt Walker Sr.
Helen graduated from Central High School, Newark,
NJ and worked at Western Electric for over twenty years. She established a lasting relationship with a group of ladies that enjoyed going to the theatre and celebrating their birthdays together at various restaurants.
She married Russel Glover in 1963 and from that marriage two loving sons were born, Rodney and Erik.
Helen was an active member of Elmwood United Presbyterian Church. After her retirement from Western Electric, she worked in the church office as a secretary for many years.
Helen explored different avenues that complimented her warm and bubbly personality. She always left the house well made up and well-dressed to bring out the best in herself and passed it
onto her friends.
Being a member of Friends of the Essex Chorale, The Fab 7, The Essex County Civic Club, The NAACP, Silver Steppers of East Orange, Orange Retirement Club, Historical Society of East Orange, NJ, Red Hat Society, and the St. Matthew AME Church,
were a source of joy and happiness to her.
She was predeceased by her parents, (former husband)
Russel Glover, sisters, Katherine (Al), Lindsay, Betty Ann (Edward) Williams, Brother Holt Walker Jr., and brother-in-law, Henry J. Bell Sr.
Helen leaves to mourn her sons Rodney and Erik devoted and loyal fiancé, Lillie), her pride and joy grandchildren, Shawn Walker, Erik and R’Lani Glover, siblings Wilma Ruth Bell, Lu Ella
Peniston Cochran (Michael), and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and lifelong friends.
She will be truly missed.
