You were one of the few people to regularly tell how I was silly ……. cause you were one of the few people that witnessed ‘the lil girl’ in me. You were the closest to an older sibling, a big brother that I’ve ever had. You were my soft place to land. Like the night we did the Bible verse challenge after your associate pastor-friend’s birthday luncheon. You wanted to impress and warned me not to embarrass you. All the church folk recited bible verse after bible verse. For every one of my turns, I'd recite a poem or haiku. I’d wink at that evil eye you kept giving. Finally as I began to recite Nikki’s Winter Poem, you stood up and announced with a straight face and the devil in your eyes, someone should move the furniture and you were going to get on the organ "because she always performed a fierce interpretive dance with this poem". You ended up dancing with me and for the longest every time we saw each other we’d whisper ....."once a snowflake fell on my brow and i loved it so much and i kissed it and it was happy and called its cousins and brothers and a web of snow engulfed me then i reached to love them all and i squeezed them and they became a spring rain and i stood perfectly still and was a flower." Bobby-Robert Charles-Cuz, you are my forever flower. Wait there for me, your cousin Cat.
