Obituary of Christa J Joisil
In loving memory of Christa Jennifer (Marrow) Joisil, a cherished wife, mother, sister, daughter, niece,
cousin and friend.
Christa touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength. Christa passed
away peacefully on April 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love,
strength and inspiration.
Christa Jennifer Joisil was born on June 2, 1989 to Renea (Parker) and Lamont Marrow in Dover, New
Jersey. From a young age, Christa exhibited a curiosity and zest for life that would shape her character
for years to come.
Christa was a well-rounded, talented and charismatic young lady. As a child, she loved to sing and
dance, filling the room with her presence, and playing with her best friend in life, her sister Latasha. In
high school, Christa was always part of a team, whether it was cheer or supporting the high school
marching band playing the flute. As a rising leader in her school, Christa was a part of the High Honors
Society and had dreams of becoming a doctor after she graduated from Dover High School in 2007.
Christa graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from The Richard Stockton College of
New Jersey in 2011, and received her Masters of Biomedical Science degree in 2013 from Rutgers
University - Newark, formerly The University of Dentistry and Medicine of New Jersey.
In her professional life, Christa always strived to do more than what was expected. Christa’s intelligence,
poise and eloquence served her well and paved the way for new levels of success at Stryker, one of the
world’s leading medical technology companies. She worked there since 2014, with her final position
being Staff Regulatory Affairs Specialist.
Christa met the love of her life, Samuel Joisil, in 2015. Sam treated her like the queen she was as they
fell in love, traveled the world, and experienced new and wonderful adventures together. She said yes
to forever with Sam on February 11, 2017 and they were married on November 25, 2017. Sam and
Christa were blessed to become parents to two beautiful and lively children, Samuel “Sammy” Jr. and
Morgan Taylor. Christa enjoyed carrying her babies and loved even more being their mother. She
looked forward to dressing and styling them for different occasions, or for no occasion at all, and making
sure they were able to experience everything they could possibly enjoy. Christa loved to watch Sammy’s
favorite movie “The Lion King”, and get her nails painted by Morgan.
Christa was a Child of God, and she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She knew The Lord from her
younger years, growing up in the Church of God In Christ, and held onto Him through her adulthood.
She was baptized on October 26, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church where she became a member and
participated in the church choir and was a greeter until she was called to rest. Christa embodied what it
meant to be a faith-filled woman: she was humble and passed on the love of our Lord to her children.
Christa enjoyed the finer things that life had to offer, especially the three M’s: massages, manicures and
mimosas. Some of her favorite things included traveling, baking, chocolate, sushi, and her mother’s
special dishes, smothered pork chops and candied yams. She also took time to enjoy the simple things in
life, especially time well-spent with family and friends.
From her early years, Christa held aspirations of cultivating a loving family, pursuing a successful career,
and thriving as a devoted spouse. These mirrored her core values of love, dedication, and personal
fulfillment, shaping her journey with unwavering resolve and purpose. We are truly blessed to have seen
all these dreams come true for Christa in the too few years she had on this Earth. Her passion for life
should be a guiding light for those who want to honor her memory.
Christa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Annette Parker-Thompson and Jobie
Parker; step-grandfather, Bennett Thompson, and her maternal uncle Jimmy Walker.; her paternal
grandmothers Loretta Dumas and Minnie Dortch; her paternal aunt, Renee Dortch and Joanne
Thompson. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her devoted and loving husband, Samuel Joisil;

Union, NJ, her father, Lamont Marrow (Nola Lewis) of Bethlehem PA; her sister, Latasha Marrow
(Eugene Iyalekhue) of Roselle NJ; and paternal grandfather Earl Dortch of Morristown; maternal step-
grandmother, Louise Parker of Morristown. She also leaves behind her family in-love: mother-in-law
Helene Hoff and father-in-law Odiles (Gisele) Joisil of West Orange NJ; two sisters-in-law, Linda Robinson
(Neil) of Winston Salem, NC and Carline Pierre of Union, NJ; four brothers-in-law, Ainxel (Shirley) Xavier,
of Capitol Height MD, Dave Josil, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and Tony Joisil, W. Orange, NJ. She leaves behind a
large grieving family, including maternal aunt Yvette Parker of Dover, NJ; Kathy Smith and Rosalyn
Thompson of VA; maternal uncle Deacon Anthony (Denise) Parker of Chesapeake, VA; paternal aunt
Debbie (Cristian) Avendano of Wilks-Barre, PA; paternal uncle Ronnie Dumas (Lashonda) of Randolph,
NJ; Darrell Dortch of Morristown; four wonderful nieces, Leila, Ella, Janelle, and Amara, and one
wonderful nephew Cornell; two Godsons, DeChon and Vernon III; three close friends the 3 T’s - Tiare B,
Tonya and Tamika; and Elizabeth, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss Christa
every day.
