Obituary of Willie Murchison

Please share a memory of Willie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

WILLIE MURCHISON, 67, of Paterson, New Jersey passed away at home on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

A lifelong Patersonian, Willie attended Schools 4, 5, and John F. Kennedy High School. At 13 years old, he started working in construction with his uncle and later went on to do road work throughout the state  and eventually to work for United Parcel Service in Dover, NJ.

Known as Murk, or Big Murk, Willie was a tough love type of guy, but with the emphasis on LOVE. In his younger years, he played lock up with his younger siblings and cousins, giving them the mental toughness to grow up in the Christopher Columbus Projects. As he got older, that same love was bestowed to his nephews with the Gauntlet workouts.

Murk enjoyed good food, taking pictures, Facebook, old school values, and always looked after his family as a protector.

Willie was preceded in death by his father, Willie James Murchison; stepfather, George Eaton; brother, Samuel Arthur King; nephew, Reggie Coley; and niece, Latasha Smith. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Eaton; siblings, Marie Smith, Annell Murchison, Michelle Murchison, Pat Davis, Daryl Davis, Richard Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
