Obituary

Janice Robinson was born September 13th,1957 to the late Alexander Robinson and Alma York, in Mobile, Alabama. She was the youngest of 12 children and never let anyone forget it. When she was six years old, she moved to Bayside, NY where she attended PS 31 Elementary School, and graduated from Flushing High School.

Janice worked for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection for over 35 years where she was promoted to Supervisor and held that position until the day she retired almost 3 years ago.  As many of you may know, Janice had an awesome testimony and was very proud of how she turned her life around after battling substance abuse. On May 5th,1993 Janice overcame her abuse, and on May 5th, 1996 she found God again and became a member of Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Samuel B. Joubert Sr. D.D. where she served faithfully as member of the usher board for many years.

She enrolled back into school at The College of New Rochelle obtaining a Bachelor’s of Arts in 2005, where she remained on the Dean’s List. Immediately after had two internships one being at Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation, the other was at the Monica House (Catholic Charities Neighborhood Service) and in 2008 obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University.  Janice also took part in Kairos prison ministry for women who are affected by incarceration. These internships afforded Janice the opportunity to help many people which ignited a spark in her to become a sponsor for Narcotics Anonymous. Through this organization she remained clean and sober for 29 years.

Janice loved her God and thanked him every day for bringing her through. She loved nature, loved to travel, and loved to cook especially for her children and grandchildren. When Janice loved you, she really loved you and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for you. Helping and healing people were her passions.

On August 8th, 2022 Janice Robinson was called home to be with the Lord. She now joins her siblings and parents. Janice leaves to mourn her five daughters: Latoya Robinson (Albany, NY), Brandy Robinson (Corona, NY), Jasmine Robinson-Townsend (Jamaica, NY), Marvina Bell (Brooklyn, NY), and Angela Bell (Reading, PA). Her sister Lindora Hall (Bronx, NY), and brother Joe Bradley (Chicago, IL).

The father of her children Marvin Bell (Brooklyn, NY), her companion Roosevelt Bristow Sr. (Virginia Beach, VA), and bonus son Roosevelt Bristow Jr. (Virginia Beach, VA). A light is missing from our family, but we know that light will guide us to Heaven where we all will meet again. Our loss is God’s gain.  Mommy we love you and we will miss you dearly; continue to watch over us.
