It is difficult to put into words what Vera meant to all of us at Progressive Steps. For nearly 25 years, I had the privilege of knowing and working with her, and I can truly say that she was one of the most remarkable people I have ever known.
Vera was an exceptional Occupational Therapist. She had an incredible dedication to the children and families she served, and the difference she made in their lives cannot be measured. But as wonderful as Vera was professionally, it was the person she was that made her so incredibly special.
Vera was kind, caring, compassionate, generous, and always willing to help anyone who needed her. She treated everyone with kindness and respect, and she was someone you could always count on. No matter what was needed, Vera was willing to help, never looking for recognition or expecting anything in return. That was simply who she was.
Her colleagues thought the world of her. They valued her knowledge and experience, but even more than that, they valued Vera. People genuinely enjoyed working with her and being part of her team because she made everyone around her feel supported and appreciated. In nearly 25 years, I cannot remember Vera ever speaking poorly of another person, and I cannot recall anyone ever having anything but wonderful things to say about her. I think that says everything about the way she lived her life and the way she treated people.
Vera was one of those rare people who quietly made a difference everywhere she went. She made Progressive Steps better simply by being part of it, and I know that I am a better person for having known her. I feel incredibly fortunate that our paths crossed and that I had the privilege of having Vera as part of the Progressive Steps family for so many years.
Vera, you were truly one of a kind. You touched more lives than you probably ever realized, and the impact you made will remain long after your passing. You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
My heart goes out to your family and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving you.
