Shari Marie Theresa Mullings Obituary
Shari Marie Theresa Mullings was born in St Andrew, Jamaica on February 13, 1978. She peacefully departed this world on March 11, 2026, in New Jersey, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration.
Shari graduated from Bridgeport High School in Jamaica and continued pursuing her degree in Business Administration from the University College of the Caribbean. Her professional path was marked by growth and meaningful contribution. At Independent Radio Company, Power 106, she rose to the position of Manager of Advertising Traffic, where she made a tangible impact by implementing Visual Traffic 2014, an innovative software that generated revenue for the company.
When Shari made the decision to migrate to the United States, she brought that same professionalism with her. As a Front Desk Reception/Security Officer at the Alliance Building Security in NY, she found deep fulfillment in her role; particularly her post at the iconic SUMMIT One Vanderbilt building. She greeted visitors, tenants, and employees with genuine warmth. She also built cherished friendships with her colleagues.
Shari was diagnosed with cancer over a decade ago, a battle that would have broken many, but not her. She met it with courage, resilience and a quiet determination that inspired all who witnessed her journey. Rather than being defined by illness, she chose to live fully, to love deeply, to show up for the people and moments that mattered most, and to continue being the light that others needed. Cancer was part of her life’s journey. The true measure of Shari's life extends far beyond her struggle. She possessed an infectious enthusiasm for life, an independent spirit, and genuine ambition. Her heart was as big as her radiant smile. Her charismatic personality was magnetic, and she had an extraordinary gift for connection. She could brighten any room and illuminate even the darkest days. Whether through her genuine greetings “what’s up” ;) , her kind words, her contagious sense of humor, or her signature phrase "really" (lol). Shari brought joy, warmth, and calm to everyone blessed enough to cross her path.
She found genuine happiness in the warmth of those closest to her, cherishing meaningful moments with family and friends. She had a wonderful zest for life, delighting in eating out at restaurants and exploring the world through adventurous experiences, from the iconic NY pedicab tours, hop-on-hop-off bus tours, live music that moved her soul, and travels that broadened her horizons.
Her love for fashion was truly a reflection of her vibrant spirit. She took joy in expressing herself through style, the latest trends, beautiful clothing, elegant shoes, thoughtfully chosen bags, and accessories that completed her look. There was something beautiful about the way she carried herself with such poise and confidence.
That graceful stride was rooted in something deeper, a steadfast faith and profound spiritual connection with God. As an active and devoted member of the Gospel Light Church in Newark, NJ, she nurtured meaningful relationships and cultivated a rich spiritual life. She strengthened her spiritual growth by attending bible study, and actively participated at conventions and convocations, while building a church family that became a source of strength and support.
When illness challenged her, the church family embraced her with tender care, visiting her, calling to check in, praying alongside her, and lifting her spirits with their unwavering love and intercession. Though her earthly journey was courageous and inspiring to all who knew her, God's greater purpose called her home to his eternal kingdom of glory, where she now rests in perfect peace.
Shari leaves behind her mother, Evelyn, and father, Bernard, sister, Kacia Mullings, brother, Rick Mullings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who loved her. Her spirit will remain embedded within the cherished memories shared.
Shari's legacy is not one of absence, but of presence, a presence that will continue to guide, comfort, and inspire all who were privileged to call her family or friend. She will forever be remembered, forever be loved, and forever be a part of the fabric of our lives.
