Frank Rene Rivas, formerly of Paterson, NJ, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on April 13, 1970, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Frank brought immense love, joy, and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. He cherished time spent sleigh riding, going to the beach, and enjoying sports and cars — especially anything that brought family and friends together.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Maria del Carmen Burgos and Juan Alberto Rivas Sr.; his aunt, Alicia Olano; and his nephew, “Tonito” Reyes.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Annette; his beloved children, Kiara and Juan; his aunts — including his second mother, Miriam Rosado, and Diana Rosado; his big brother, Juan “Albert” Rivas; his sister, Desiree Janica; and his brother, Edmund “Elmo” Mallqui-Burgos. Frank was a proud uncle to nieces Franchesca Rivas, Shardee Janica, Destiny Pratts, Jaylin Rivas, Ciara Mallqui-Thomas, Jasintai Mallqui, and Cataleya Peralta; and nephews Julius Rivas and Tresean Mallqui. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, and dear friends who will deeply miss him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at John B. Houston Funeral Home, 236 Ellison St., Paterson, NJ 07501. Burial will take place at a later date at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery & Mausoleum.
